Jared Rubin, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Economics and Co-Director of the Institute for the Study of Religion, Economics and Society has been awarded a John Templeton Foundation grant to further his study on economics and religion. The grant will be used for his project “The Third Religion, Economics and Society (RES) Initiative: Making the Economic Study of Religion and Religious Markets a Field of the Future.”

This $325,000 grant is Dr. Rubin’s third from the John Templeton Foundation and will cover his project over the next four years. The total amount that he has been awarded from the John Templeton Foundation now exceeds one million dollars, and will support over 10 years of research. Dr. Rubin is also the author of Rulers, Religion, and Riches: Why the West Got Rich and the Middle East Did Not, published in 2017 by Cambridge University Press. He won the Douglass North Best Book Award from the Society of Institutional and Organizational Economics in 2018 for the best research in institutional and organizational economics published during the previous two years.
