Hi Chapman community!

I have officially been a Career Peer Advisor for Chapman’s Office of Career and Professional Development for over a year, and it is crazy to see how far we have come since I first started at the office.

For the past year, I was lucky enough to work alongside the only Peer Advisor at the time, Kelly Ma ‘21, who has since graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration!

She was unquestionably one of the best mentors and leaders of our Career Education team and will be greatly missed. Without her, we definitely would not have been able to train and bring on the newest members to the career education team as quickly as we did!

With that being said, I would love for you to get to know each of our newest Career Peer Advisors, in addition to myself, as they are here to help guide you through your undergraduate career alongside me!

Here’s to a great Spring semester!

Hi! My name is Catthy and I’m currently a junior double majoring in Business Administration and Communication Studies. I’m from San Jose, but I currently live in Westminster for school.

This is my first year working at the Office of Career and Professional Development, but the experience in my professional and academic life has taught me a lot about career development that I hope to share through being a Peer Advisor.

During the pandemic, I was able to get my first internship as a Marketing Intern at a licensing company where I worked with brands such as Oreo, Kraft, The Hype House, Comedy Central, etc.

Some fun facts about me: I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan, I love traveling, and I love watching television shows in my free time.

Chapman has a lot of great resources to help students grow professionally, and taking advantage of them can go a long way! I’m excited to get to know everyone, and I am always open to connecting to talk about career aspirations, academic life, and more!

Ivy Magruder

Ivy Magruder ‘23

To refresh your memory, or in case we haven’t met, my name is Ivy and I currently work at Chapman University’s Office of Career and Professional Development. I am a First-Generation, third-year Business Administration student with a minor in Psychology. I am originally from Rancho Cucamonga, CA, but have since officially relocated to Orange!

I have been helping my peers with their resumes and cover letters since high school, and I love doing so in college! I started at the Office of Career and Professional Development as a Front Desk Assistant and have since transitioned to a Career Peer Advisor and Marketing Assistant for the past year and a half.

I got my first internship through our Chapman-specific job board, Handshake, as a sophomore at Chapman, and will be starting a second internship this Spring semester!

I absolutely love meeting with my peers and talking to them about all things career and about life. I love hearing about what everyone is doing and what they’re involved in and then using that to be applied towards their future career!

For those of you who are interested, I have experience applying to both large and small companies and truly believe that there are benefits to both. Because of the pandemic, I have loads of experience networking both in-person and virtually and can definitely help you with either form. I also have personal experience with personal branding and content marketing for those that would love to work on their personal brand!

Outside of work and career-related activities, I love fashion, the outdoors, thrifting, strength training, yoga and taking small steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
