Meet Grace Granger! Student Advisory Board Member
November 17, 2025
Hello everyone! My name is Grace Granger, and I am a freshman double-majoring in Global Communication with a Spanish Track and Peace & Justice Studies with a minor in French. I am from Orange, California, and I’ve grown up and gone to school within 20 minutes of Chapman my whole life!

When I started looking at colleges Chapman naturally made my list. I’d grown up listening to many of my family’s friends talking about their amazing experiences at Chapman, and it was so close to home yet just far enough away that it seemed like a perfect fit. When it came time to make the decision though I was tied between Chapman and another college in SoCal. After participating in Chapman’s Panther for a Day, and going to the various open houses and informational panels offered, I chose Chapman. After hearing students talk about their Chapman experiences and learning more about the amazing and unique programs Chapman offers, I realized that Chapman was the place for me. Not only could I major in something as unique as Global Communication & World Languages, but all my professors and academic advisors had made it clear that they are here to support me as I pursue a double major and minor.

While I’m only a freshman, I’ve still been able to get involved around campus. There are so many clubs on campus that it was hard to choose ones to join! As of my first semester, I am a member of the Animal Care Club and the Peace Studies Union. I’ve also been able to continue my passion for singing as a member of the University Treble Choir. Beyond the extracurriculars I’m engaged in on campus, I’ve been enjoying my time as a School of Communication student. I’m taking interesting classes and learning about subjects I never would have thought I’d be learning. My favorite class so far has definitely been Com 111: Communicating with Linguistic Diversity. Before taking this class I didn’t know anything about linguistics, and now I want to keep learning more about it!

I applied for the Student Advisory Board because I want to help both prospective and current Chapman students navigate their college experiences. All my interactions with student leaders across Chapman and, my now fellow, Student Advisory Board members influenced my decision to attend Chapman, and I hope to help others as they once helped me.

My advice for everyone is to never be afraid to try something completely new or outside your comfort zone. It sounds cliche, but I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t followed such advice.
