Hi, my name is Leah Frisbie, and I’m from Essex, Vermont. I am majoring in Communication Studies, and I’m excited to continue growing within this major and explore additional minors. I am extremely grateful to be a part of the Student Advisory Board and to represent the School of Communication at Chapman.

Traveling to Prague with my two older sisters!

Growing up in Vermont my whole life and deciding to move across the country for college was definitely a daunting decision, but it has been so rewarding. I was eager to leave the East Coast and its cold winters and embrace a new experience in sunny California. Chapman’s size, values, and location all played major roles in my decision, but the School of Communication truly stood out to me. From the passionate professors to the diverse course offerings to the internship opportunities, I was impressed by this major and immediately felt drawn to the Panther community.

The resources that the Student Advisory Board provides, including peer tutoring, networking events, and advising support, were especially comforting to me as an incoming first-year student. These offerings reflected the values of the School of Communication and aligned with my own interests. I had several leadership roles in high school, which were incredibly influential and encouraged me to continue seeking leadership opportunities in college. The Student Advisory Board combines both my passion for leadership and my commitment to the field of communication, and I’m excited to contribute in the years ahead.

Some of my hobbies include traveling, shopping, going to the beach, attending concerts, skiing, and anything with family or friends. I absolutely love exploring Orange and SoCal. I have been consistently impressed by the warmth, beaches, and endless activities. I also adore coffee shops and study dates. A few of my favorite local places are Bluestone Lane, Cedar House Coffee, and Blue Bowl.

I am so excited for the next four years at Chapman and all the opportunities that await. I definitely want to study abroad. With my love for travel and interest in global communication, I am eager to experience a new culture. I can’t wait to see all that unfolds during my time at Chapman.

My advice is always to try new things and be where your feet are. I am so grateful to be a part of the Student Advisory Board. Please feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to answer questions or grab a coffee!
