On Tuesday, August 22, Chapman University will host an Opening Convocation Ceremony to mark the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year. A short pyrotechnic display will be held at the conclusion of the ceremony at approximately 8 p.m. Pyro Spectaculars by Souza is producing the event and is working with the City of Orange to comply with all guidelines.

As many animals become alarmed by the noise, it is recommended that you leave your pets inside the house. If you know your pet is sensitive to loud noises, it is also recommended to include a noise distraction, such as a television or radio, to lessen the impact.

Please know that we will do everything possible to hold this event with minimal disruption to all. As always, you are more than welcome to join the celebration in the Aitken Arts Plaza as we welcome back our students.
