The College of Performing Arts is excited to welcome jazz and blues legend Barbara Morrison to the Musco Conservatory of Music to perform with Chapman’s very own Big Band and Jazz Combo, directed by Albert Alva. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 7:30-9:30PM.

Morrison’s career includes an impressive 20 albums and performances around the world with some of the greatest names in jazz such as Ray Brown, Ray Charles, Buddy Collette, Joe Williams, Nancy Wilson, and so many more. She has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Bern Jazz Festival, and the Playboy Jazz Festival.

Morrison is currently an adjunct associate professor in global jazz studies at UCLA. She is also the founder and director of her own school of music in Inglewood, California, appropriately named the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, where she teaches all levels of music, jazz/blues history, acting, and performing techniques.

The show will also include a free post-show community reception with light refreshments.

Tickets are $10 general admission, and $5 for seniors, alumni, students, and Chapman faculty and staff. Purchase tickets here.
