Last Friday, James Gerrard, community relations manager, and Aaron Vilaubi, employer relations manager, represented Framing Sponsor Chapman University at Habitat for Humanity OC’s 2021 Leaders Build Challenge.  This annual fundraising event is Habitat for Humanity OC’s largest of the year and brings business and community leaders together to build homes, community and hope.  Over the course of the day, Gerrard and Vilaubi worked with the rest of the volunteers to put on primer for exterior paint on three duplexes.

The day, however, was not all hard labor.  The annual Champion’s Cup featured a variety of games ranging from axe throwing to relay races to super-size toss across over a 20-foot fence.  Chapman came in second place overall in the competition after losing the tie breaker in a best of three axe throw-off.

“Habitat OC is one of my favorite nonprofits, and I love the work they do. To be able to come out and get your hands dirty, or in this case covered in paint, and build these homes for hardworking families is an amazing experience. This event in particular was awesome because we got to work along side so many leaders from Orange County and do some real good in the community,” says Gerrard.
