The winner of the 2015 Baldwin Scholarship is Lisa Bombarda, a first-year graduate student at Chapman University’s
Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD)
Masters Program, soon to be housed at
Crean College
. She lives in Anaheim, attended Rosary High School in Fullerton, and earned her undergraduate degree at UCLA. She was introduced to the
Scottish Rite Orange County Childhood Language Center (CLC)
in a video shown during Chapman’s CSD orientation. Inspired by the Scottish Rite mission to ensure that all children have access to speech and language services, she asked to work as a graduate assistant. During the 15 weeks she worked at our Center, she saw the impact CLC had on the surrounding community, and personally ensured that the Scottish Rite mission was fulfilled each day she greeted the children.
Student Lisa Bombarda

Lisa answered the telephones as well as scheduled appointments for evaluations and therapy sessions. She phoned parents to remind them about therapy sessions, updated monthly attendance logs, answered emails, maintained contact with Regional Center of Orange County for referrals, and created documents. When student clinicians were absent, Lisa filled-in and provided therapy for their clients. Lisa did it all!

She maintains a 3.8 grade point average and was elected vice-president of her graduate class. Most people remark on her kindness, organizational skills, and ever-present smile! Her fellow students like to be in her study group and on her team. Lisa exudes happiness wherever she goes! She is currently headed toward an outstanding career as a speech language pathologist. We are all proud that she represents us, and Chapman University, as the Baldwin Scholarship Winner.
