Two Fowler School of Engineering Faculty Among Top Cited Scientists in the World
December 6, 2023
Stanford University releases a report annually featuring the most cited scientists globally using SCOPUS, a comprehensive abstract and citation database. The scientists recognized in the report are determined by two significant factors: the number of publications and the number of citations. The Fowler School of Engineering is proud to have two professors named in this report.
Congratulations to Nasim Mohammadi Estakhri, Ph.D., and L. Andrew Lyon, Ph.D., on being named the top 2% of scientists globally!
Nasim Mohammadi Estakrhi, Ph.D.
Dr. Nasim Estakhri is one of the top 2% of scientists in the field of Networking, Telecommunication, and Optics for 2022. Remarkably, Dr. Estakhri achieved this designation in a single year, showing that although she is a relatively new scientist, she is extremely active in her research and has made a significant impact on those in her field. Dr. Estakhri’s research focuses on the areas of nano-photonics, metamaterials, nano-optics, and applied electromagnetics, working at the intersection of engineering, physics, and materials science. During her time at the Fowler School of Engineering, Dr. Estakhri has inspired students with her passion for research, engaging undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers in metasurfaces and metastructures. Dr. Estakhri has been named a top scientist globally, ranking at number 2,898 out of 197,500 top scientists in her category. Impressively, her work was cited 285 times in 2022. Dr. Estakhri also made the list in 2020 and 2021, making this her third consecutive year on the list.
Andrew Lyon, Ph.D.
Dr. Andrew Lyon is one of the top 2% of scientists in the field of Chemical Physics and Polymers. Throughout his career, Dr. Lyon has 165 publications and has been cited 12,526 times. Dr. Lyon’s research focuses on the development of new materials for regenerative medicine applications. His work combines chemistry and physics with nanomaterials for applications in bioengineering. Dr. Lyon’s research in this area attracts engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and physics students to participate in his lab, The Chapman Nanoanalysis Lab (ChaNL) who are interested in studying and researching nanomaterials. Dr. Lyon ranks number 1,723 of the top scientists in the world in his field.
