Students Work to Get Alumnus in Baseball Hall of Fame

An Orange County Register article on October 8, 2009 reported on Chapman law students working to get Chapman alumnus Emmett Ashford recognized in the national Baseball Hall of Fame. Mr. Ashford played baseball for Chapman in the 1940s and was the first black umpire in the major leagues. University President Jim Doti, Adrienne Bratton (Emmett Ashfords daughter), and Rachel Robinson (widow of Jackie Robinson) have all written letters to encourage Emmett to be on the Hall of Fame ballot.
