Leigh Steinberg, a Chapman Law professor and renown sports agent, was recently published by Forbes. In the article, Steinberg discusses his unique approach to teaching sports law at Chapman’s Fowler School of Law. Because of his desire to give students a holistic experience, the class covers common legal concerns such as standard player contracts and collective bargaining agreements and also ventures into role-play exercises that involve aspects of negotiation and marketing.

Steinberg writes:

“This class will be extremely interactive and emphasize real life skills. It begins with having each student do a personal values inventory and knowing what is most critical in life for them. They then will learn how to enter the heart and mind of potential clients to truly understand their needs. We start with former UCLA, Dallas, NY and SF wide receiver Mike Sherrard taking them through the world of recruiting. They will have to pitch Mike as a potential client.”
