Members of Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law’s competition boards travelled to two competitions last week, earning first place at the regional Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition and a solid finish at the National Pretrial Competition.

Two teams competed in the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition regional in Los Angeles: Sonia Masters (JD ’17) and Michael Tang (JD ’17), and Andrew Marsh (JD ’18) and Arlene Galarza (JD ’18). Marsh and Galarza took first place and will continue on to the national finals in November. Alumnus Andy Bugman (’07) served as coach for both teams.

At the National Pretrial Competition at Stetson University College of Law in Florida, Kristin Hayes (JD ’17), Scott Liebert (JD ’17), Chris Gavriliuc (JD ’18), and Suneeta Israni (JD ’18) competed against 15 teams from across the nation. After making it through  the first two preliminary rounds undefeated, the team ended in sixth place overall after a narrow half-point loss in the final preliminary round.
