On December 13, 2016, members of the Newport Beach City Council unanimously chose Kevin Muldoon (’06) to be the city’s next mayor. Muldoon, a former Orange County deputy district attorney, was first elected to the kevin-muldoonCity Council in 2014 and served as mayor pro tem for the past year. In Newport Beach, the City Council chooses one of its members as mayor and one as mayor pro tem each year, with the mayor serving as the presiding officer of the City Council.

Muldoon currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel of 5 Bars, LLC, an Irvine-based technology company. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Chapman University School of Law and Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University, where he was awarded the Dr. Singleton Award for Excellence in Economics.

In a speech delivered to those in attendance at Newport Beach City Hall when he was chosen, Muldoon said, “It is an honor of a lifetime to serve as your mayor.”

Congratulations to Kevin on this achievement.
