June 8, 2017
Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law is pleased to welcome Robert Alvarado, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of CourtCall, LLC, to its Board of Advisors.
Alvarado co-founded CourtCall in 1995 with his law partner, Mark S. Wapnick. CourtCall’s remote appearance program enables courts, attorneys, and the public to use audio and video conferencing to reduce litigation costs. CourtCall funds a variety of scholarships at law schools across the nation.
“We believe it is important to be mindful of supporting Southern California law schools, but most importantly, we believe it is important to support law schools and leaders that are visionary in their thinking, such as Fowler School of Law and Dean Matt Parlow,” Alvarado said. “We want to be part of that, and it is simply a natural fit for us to be supportive of our future customers.”
Alvarado regularly addresses judges, attorneys, national insurers, and corporate counsel concerning technology matters at events hosted by the National Judicial College, American Judges Association, National Association of State Judicial Educators, American Bar Association, and Consumer Attorneys of California, among others. CourtCall currently serves more than 2,500 state, federal, bankruptcy, and provincial judicial officers in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. In addition to improving court efficiency and security, CourtCall has helped attorneys save millions of hours of travel time while saving their clients hundreds of millions of dollars. That use of CourtCall by the legal community has also saved millions of gallons of gasoline and prevented tens of thousands of metric tons of CO2 from being emitted into our air.
Alvarado received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Southern California and a JD from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles.
“We look forward to welcoming Bob to the Board of Advisors,” Dean Matt Parlow said. “His creative thinking and passion for innovation in the legal field will certainly benefit the law school’s efforts to support our students and graduates.”
