Announced on January 8, 2020
In honor of the 100-year anniversary of the 19th Amendment, Chapman University Fowler School of Law’s student-run scholarly journal, the Chapman Law Review, is dedicating both its live symposium and its spring 2020 issue to this noteworthy and historic occasion.
The symposium, scheduled for Friday, January 24 inside Chapman University’s Kennedy Hall, is titled “1920-2020: The Effects of Women’s Suffrage 100 Years After Ratification of the 19th Amendment.” A full day of panel discussions will focus on the history of the suffrage movement, challenges to voting rights, and the current state of gender equality. The keynote speaker will be Judge Leslie Abrams Gardner of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
Admission to the symposium is complimentary and includes a catered lunch. Registration is now open for the event via Eventbrite.
Held annually each spring semester, the Chapman Law Review Symposium brings together noted scholars to discuss far-reaching legal questions. Previous keynote speakers have included U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr., former White House Counsel John Dean, former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III, former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, and Walden Media co-founder and president Michael Flaherty.
