We are pleased to announce that our 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year Awards have been presented to Sherry Wang, Ph.D., and Rachita Sumbria, Ph.D., in recognition of their exceptional service to our students from Fall 2024 through Spring 2025.

Pharm.D. Teacher of the Year: 

Wang has been selected as Teacher of the Year by both the Class of 2026 and Class of 2027 cohorts, marking the first time a faculty member has received this distinction from both cohorts in the same year. Outside the classroom, Wang specializes in machine learning, epidemiology, clinical pharmacy, and health economics, earning her numerous international recognitions. Most recently, she was awarded the Women in AI’s AI Researcher of the Year Award (North America).

MS and Ph.D. Teacher of the Year:

Sumbria has been selected by our graduate students as their Teacher of the Year. She leads courses ranging from Biostatistics to the Ph.D. capstone, but also is known for her research on central nervous system diseases and the blood-brain barrier. Her work focuses on developing treatments for stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia, and cerebral microhemorrhages.
