Dr. Sumbria received both awards at a special ceremony held in Lubbock, Texas, on October 16, 2026.

The two honors recognize Dr. Sumbria’s distinguished career and contributions to the health care profession:

  • 2026 TTUHSC Presidential Distinguished Alumni Award, TTUHSC’s highest alumni honor, which recognizes graduates whose significant contributions to the health care profession bring distinction to the university and inspire faculty, staff, students, and fellow alumni.
  • 2026 TTUHSC Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award, which recognizes alumni who have made meaningful contributions to their fields and brought distinction to themselves, the graduate school, and the university.

Receiving both the university’s highest alumni honor and the graduate school’s distinguished alumni award in the same year is an exceptional achievement. Together, these recognitions reflect Dr. Sumbria’s broad impact on the health care profession and her specific contributions to pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.

Congratulations to Dr. Sumbria!
