Chapman University Welcomes New Board Members
Two New Trustees and Four Governors Join the University’s Governing Boards

ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman University has appointed two new members of its Board of Trustees and four new members of its Board of Governors. New trustees Zenab Dabbah, M.D., J.D., and Joel P. Moskowitz and new governors Deborah Bridges, Rebecca Hall, Elim Kay and James F. Wilson have joined the university’s boards. Their terms are effective immediately.
NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBERS:
- Zenab Dabbah, M.D., J.D. is a lawyer who recently established her own law practice in Pasadena. She is also a practicing medical doctor/internist. She and her husband, Daniel Temianka, are active philanthropists who have given to a wide variety of causes, and have been generous donors to Chapman University, including a recent gift of $2.5 million to fund the Henri Temianka Professorship in Music and the Henri Temianka Scholarship in String Studies. (Henri Temianka, Daniel’s father, was a well-known violinist and conductor who founded the Paganini String Quartet and the California Chamber Symphony Orchestra.)
- Joel P. Moskowitz is co-founder and longtime chairman and CEO of Ceradyne, a company based in Costa Mesa, Calif. that develops, manufactures and markets advanced technical ceramics products and components for defense, industrial, energy, automotive and commercial applications. The philanthropic interests of Moskowitz and his wife Ann, who reside in Corona del Mar, include Chapman University’s Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education, Alfred University, National Jewish Health and the Hoag Hospital Foundation, among others.
NEW BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEMBERS:
- Deborah Bridges is a community leader and former owner of Hires on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. She and her husband Larry, who reside in Newport Coast, founded the Sparkle Fund (Students Pursuing Academic Rewards, Knowledge, Love and Empowerment), which helps students in need of financial assistance with tuition costs. Deborah Bridges is a member of the 44 Women for Orangewood, a founding member of Girls Inc., a member of the Angels of the Arts Board of Directors at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and has been a member of the Women of Chapman since 2006. In 2011 and 2012, she and Larry sponsored Chapman University’s $20,000 Schweitzer Award of Excellence, which is given to non-profit organizations or individuals of note who embody Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s ideals of assisting and uplifting humanity.
- Rebecca Hall is a 1996 graduate of Chapman University and is the founder, president and CEO of IdeaHall, an award-winning public relations agency headquartered in Costa Mesa, Calif. The agency has built a specialty in the California real estate sector, serving national and regional operating companies, developers, architects, brokers and service providers. Hall previously served Chapman University as an ex-officio trustee while serving as Chapman’s Alumni Association president. She is an active supporter of Court Appointed Special Advocates, where she has served in multiple board posts and received the organization’s Corporate Citizen of the Year award.
- Elim Kay is a 2009 graduate of Chapman University and is currently an active executive and investor in the high-tech industry. He has been involved in start-up ventures for more than decade, co-founding his first company while still in high school. He completed his first company sale in 2007, while still a student at Chapman.
- James F. Wilson, C.F.A., is managing director and head of residential real estate banking at JMP Securities. JMP Group Inc., based in San Francisco, is a full-service investment banking and asset management firm that serves institutional and high-net-worth investors. In 2011, Wilson was ranked second among all stock pickers in the real estate category in the annual “Best on the Street” analyst survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal. He also serves on the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at U.C. Berkeley.
