There are several Star Wars geeks within Chapman University’s department of Strategic Marketing & Communications, and recently, a few of them banded together to celebrate May the Fourth with a tribute to Star Wars. “Mark Woodland, our boss, wanted to make a video,” says Patrick Garcia, digital arts and animation specialist in the department of broadcast and digital media, Panther Productions, “and we were inspired by the trailer for the new movie, Star Wars the Force Awakens, coming out this Christmas.” Patrick teamed up with Gerald Carter, production coordinator for Panther Productions, and they started brainstorming about how to transform the vistas of Chapman into an intergalactic planet. The two of them worked closely with Chapman’s Interactive Marketing Specialist, Michelle Leslie, to make sure they launched the video first thing in the morning on Star Wars Day, May 4th.

The result was more than a 100,000 views in a day – a new milestone for Chapman, which just surpassed 20,000 likes on Facebook. The video also came to the attention of the Orange County Register. Watch the Chapman University’s May the Fourth video at the top of this post.
