What is Simple Syllabus?

Simple Syllabus is a centralized, template-driven syllabus management system designed to streamline the creation and distribution of course syllabi, ultimately saving instructors time. Here are some key features:

  • Template-Driven: It uses dynamic templates to ensure consistency while allowing instructors to personalize their syllabi.
  • Centralized Repository: All syllabi are stored in a searchable, centralized repository, making it easy for instructors, students, and administrators to access them.
  • Integration: It integrates with existing systems like Learning Management System (i.e., Canvas) to automate syllabus creation and updates.
  • Student Portal: Provides students with access to both current and past syllabi and related course materials.

This system is used by many educational institutions to save time and ensure consistency in syllabus management.

How does Simple Syllabus promote student success and enhance the student experience?

  • Clear Expectations: By providing a consistent and detailed syllabus, students know exactly what is expected of them, which helps them plan and manage their time effectively.
  • Accessibility: The centralized repository ensures that students can easily access an accessible syllabi and related course materials anytime, which supports their learning and preparation.
  • Integration with LMS: Integration with Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Canvas allows for seamless updates and access to course information, reducing confusion and ensuring students have the most current information.
  • Support Resources: The syllabus can include links to academic support services, helping students find the resources they need to succeed.
  • Student-Centered Design: A well-organized syllabus that includes clear learning outcomes and assessment methods helps students understand the purpose of their assignments and how they contribute to their overall learning.
  • Future Planning: The digital syllabus library allows students to research classes in advance, helping them make informed decisions about their course selections.

These features collectively create a supportive learning environment that helps students stay organized, informed, and engaged in their courses.
