Meet Ben Weber! Ben is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) student graduating in the spring of 2023 with an emphasis in data analytics. He first came to Chapman to complete his undergrad – a B.S. of Business Administration. When he started his journey at Chapman, Ben’s goals were to keep a good GPA, get into an MBA program, and complete his MBA degree before the age of 25. Join us in celebrating Ben for accomplishing these goals!

Impactful Experiences

The most impactful experience for Ben has been learning and spending time with his classmates. “I’ve learned a lot from the program, but I will take more away from the friendships I’ve made than the things I’ve learned.” Ben’s favorite memory at Chapman is when he presented a final presentation for a semester-long project from the base of the ski slopes in Steamboat, Colorado during the early days of the pandemic. Being fully online at the time allowed Ben the opportunity to visit different places and have unique experiences.

Memorable Classroom Moments

Ben’s favorite class was his travel course to Sweden with Dr. Niklas Myhr. “It was so fun to go out to a new country, learn about the culture, and to be making lifelong memories with my classmates.” Professor Toplansky has also made a huge impact on Ben. “I took a couple of his classes in my undergraduate program, and he helped me as I started working for the start-up company that I’m still working for today over two years later. He pushed me in an independent study class to create high-level and highly technical visualizations to show my company’s CEO and head of sales and operations to improve our company-wide sales and strategy,” said Weber

Career Journey at Chapman

Ben mentions that Jim Dussere, Director of Undergraduate Programs and Career Advancement, has been a great support system for him in addition to his mentor Dan Riley. His mentor was recommended to him through Chapman and has helped him through some of the complex parts of the program. Riley has also helped Weber decide which job offers to accept and which don’t align with his future goals. Ben currently works at Lumen as a data analyst. Prior to this, he worked at UST as a customer success engineer and for Chapman as a data architect, creating an alumni database solution.

Adventures in SoCal and Beyond!

Ben’s favorite thing to do in Southern California is to go up to the mountains and snowboard. Over his undergrad years at Chapman, Ben was a part of the Snow Club and he was in a fraternity. Post graduation, Ben is moving to Australia and will be working on the administration and instruction side of things at a Surf company called Mojo Surf! How cool?

Ben’s words of advice to incoming students: “Work hard and have a lot of fun. Get your assignments done early because it lets you go and do more things with your weekends and helps you not get as stressed out about assignments or exams.”

Pro-Tip: “My favorite spot on campus is the fourth-floor executive presentation room in Backman. It has always been a great place to study and has an awesome view.”

Congratulations to Ben and to the MBA Class of 2023, we look forward to cheering you on in your future pursuits!
