Helloooo Everyone!!!

I hope everyone is having a great start to the semester and overcoming the heat!!!

The Peer Advisor team has had some changes since the last introduction blog in the Fall of 2023. We have a new Peer Advisor (drum rollll please) Charlot!!!! I will let her introduce herself below but she is very excited to start meeting with everyone and we are super excited to have her!

We have been hard at work training and preparing for the academic year and mastering the ways of resumes, cover letters, job searching plus many more career related essentials. We hope this blog helps you get to know us better and our own involvements on/off campus. Come meet with us and ask us questions about our career journey or involvements on/off campus, we are students also!

You can book an appointment with us or stop by for drop-ins on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2-4 PM, both virtually and in person!

Meet your Career Peer Advisors

Charlot Born ’27

Hello everyone! My Name is Charlot, and I am the newest addition to the peer advisor team. I am a creative writing and peace studies double major.  I joined the Career team this last spring and am super excited to continue to work with the team and students. Apart from the Career Center, I am involved with the Red Cross and French Club. I am also a member of the English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta.

Outside of Chapman, I spend my time outside with friends. My true habitat is water, so I try and spend as much of my time at the beach and in the sun. Apart from swimming, I enjoy reading every chance I get, although my wish list is a lot longer than the list of books I have read. I love to unwind by going to the gym, cooking, and watching movies and shows with friends.

I’m still finding which path I want to pursue after Chapman, but right now I am interested in many things including writing my own book, working in book publishing, and working in nonprofits and community building programs. Something I definitely want to do after Chapman is to join the Peace Corps for a bit and work hands-on with communities.

Carson LeSage ’25

Hello everyone!! My name is Carson, as you already know, and I am so happy to be a part of the Peer Advisor team. I am a senior double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy. This is my 4th semester working as a Peer Advisor, and I have loved every second of it. In the office, I also work a lot at the Front Desk and work very closely with the Marketing team (follow us @Chapmanucareer; we have a lot of great reels, including me!!). Outside the office, I am also an active member of Kappa Alpha Pi, the Professional Pre-Law Co-ed Fraternity at Chapman, one of Chapman’s Student Ambassadors, a Resident Advisor at Henley and an EMT!!!

Outside of Chapman, I love to go to the beach and boogie board, cook many delicious foods, eat many delicious foods, and go to car shows. Working on cars is also a very…expensive hobby, but a hobby I love. Ouuu, I love to work out also; I swear I live in the gym. I just started to get into running, and I am slowly starting to fall in love, but oh my, is it hard.

All jokes aside, after Chapman, I plan on going into the fire service and becoming a firefighter paramedic! More long term, I plan on pursuing a PsyD and doing private practice clinical work! The Career Center has so many amazing resources to offer you, and I can’t say this enough, but please take advantage of them. The Peer Advisor team is also a part of the resources available. We are so passionate about meeting with our fellow students and helping you develop your career journey!

Avery Grant ’25

Hello! I’m Avery, a senior majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Creative and Cultural Industries. I’m graduating a year early and this is my second year as a Peer Advisor. However, I’ve been with the Career and Professional Development Center since my first semester at Chapman.

Outside of the office, I am President of the School of Communication Student Advisory Board, Events Director of Chapman Taylor Swift Club, an Orientation Leader, and Academic Chair for my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta. Each of my involvements has truly made Chapman feel like home, but also pushed my skills in leadership and organization and taught me so much about myself.

When I find some free time, I love reading romance novels, hiking, dancing ballet, snuggling with my Snowshoe Siamese kitty Lucy, and spending time with my friends and family. When not in class, you can find me at Disneyland or on the Starbucks patio with an iced chai, listening to Taylor Swift.

As graduation approaches, I plan to pursue a career in the entertainment industry or start my own business in communication consulting/coaching. I’m passionate about how human behavior influences our communication on both interpersonal and mass levels.

The Career Center has so many great resources, from resume reviews and interview prep to wonderful events like the Career Fair and Networking Nights. The Peer Advisor team is here to help, and we would all love to help you connect your interests with your career goals. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your career journey. See you around!
