On Wednesday, May 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Chapman University’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program will be conducting their final exercise drill at 566 and 568 N. Grand.

During this time, approximately 35 student, faculty and staff volunteers will be putting out fires, conducting search and rescue and doing triage on live “victims.” Orange Fire Department and Chapman’s Department of Fire and Life Safety will be on site to assist with the activity.

The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event.
