Chapman University is excited to welcome the community to the grand opening of our Veterans Resource Center (VRC) on Monday, November 12, at 10am. The celebration will take place at the VRC located at 526 N. Shaffer St.

The center came to be with the efforts of many on campus. Alumni and students Cullen Fair, Theodore Kavich, and Ryan King—veterans on campus that helped with the establishment of the center—were particularly instrumental in bringing these vital services to campus. The three students were recently presented with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition by Congressman Lou Correa, who will also be present at the grand opening.

Blas Villalobos (USMC ’99-’03) will serve as the first Director of Veterans Affairs, helping other veterans that are considering Chapman and those that are currently enrolled as students. He currently serves on the Advisory Committee on the Readjustment of Veterans, which offers recommendations and policy advice to the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and previously served as the veteran’s affairs manager in the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

To RSVP, email va@chapman.edu. Upon your arrival, please park in the Lastinger parking lot. The short program will be followed by refreshments and snacks.

This event is made possible through the generous support of The Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation.
