The Escalette Permanent collection of Art will host two art workshops that are free and open to Veterans, Active Service Members and/or their family members and caregivers. These two workshops are part of the Creativity After Combat Exhibition, which honors veterans, past and present, and explores the unique ability of visual art to capture aspects of the veteran experience.
The first workshop, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., is a two-part Virtual Photography Workshop led by Veteran photographer Giovanni Berdejo-Gallegos. Part one of the workshop will introduce photographic equipment and techniques. Students will then have the chance to practice on their own before reconvening for a discussion of their work during part two of the workshop on Feb. 20th at 10:00am. The second workshop, which will take place on Saturday, March 20 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., is a Virtual Cyanotype Print Workshop taught by Adam Ottke, professional photographer. This virtual workshop will introduce cyanotypes in the Escalette Collection and demonstrate how participants can make their own sun creations. DIY kits with all necessary materials will be mailed to participants beforehand. Limited to 30 participants, ages 10 and up. To register, click here.
