Season of Giving: Support Local Toy Drives and Families in Need
December 8, 2025
‘Tis the season to give back to the community! This holiday season, local organizations are spreading the holiday cheer to families in need through toy drives. Donations of any kind can make a big difference in a family’s life.
HIS-OC, Homeless Intervention Services of OC, is dedicated to empowering change and building stability for homeless communities. They offer a range of programs for individuals and families facing homelessness. This year, it includes their Winter Wonderland Holiday Toy Drive. Donate unwrapped toys to 907 N Bradford Ave, Placentia, CA 92870 by December 11th. They are also looking for volunteers for their wrapping party on December 17th to help with wrapping the donated gifts. To make a drop-off appointment, call (714) 993-5774 or email fundraising@his-oc.org. For volunteering inquiries, please contact kacy@his-oc.org.
Spark of Love Toy Drive is another great way to give back this season! ABC7 is partnering with Southern California fire departments, including the Orange City Fire Department, to collect new, unwrapped gifts for children and teens in need. Through December 24th, swing by any of the city’s eight fire stations and drop off your donations. For more information, check out @orangecityfire on social media or learn more about the drive here.
CHOC, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, is spreading the magic of the season to all its patients through a virtual toy drive. They are dedicated to providing the children who will spend the holidays in the hospital with moments of joy and wonder. Monetary donations will be used to purchase toys, games, comfort items, and festive surprises to help fill the hospital with the spirit of the season. Make your donation here, and help CHOC celebrate its patients, families, and staff.
The Friendly Center, a local non-profit organization, is hosting a Toy and Gift Drive during the month of December. Gift donations will be turned into two toy stores, where families can choose toys or gift cards together. They are asking for unwrapped toys, $25-50 gift cards, or monetary donations to bring these stores to life! Donate in-person by making an appointment online to drop off at 147 W Rose Ave, Orange, CA 92867, or 6688 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90621. Or order from their Amazon Wishlist to have it shipped directly to The Friendly Center. Donate today to give families the dignity of choice!
Another great way to spread joy this season is the Angel Tree Program. For over 40 years, Walmart and the Salvation Army have collaborated to provide children in need with new clothing, toys, and gifts during the holiday season. To get involved, visit Angel Tree Campaign to shop online or find a participating store near you.
As we enter the month of December, consider visiting one of these organizations to help spread holiday cheer. Giving back to your community is a great way to get involved off campus!
