Girls Inc. of Orange County is back at Chapman University and recruiting girls enrolled in grades 3 to 5 (who will be entering 4th – 6th grades in Summer 2019) to participate in a summer camp focused on developing business and leadership skills.

Previously called the Youth Empowerment and Self-Sufficiency (YESS) Entrepreneurship Academy, the newly renamed Girls Inc. Smart-Ups program allows young girls to learn leadership, economic literacy, and business skills by creating their own mini-society and opening up their own business. Participants will learn about marketing, advertising, budgeting, confidence building, body positivity, and will have the opportunity to learn from influential female entrepreneurs.

Chapman University is proud to host this year’s program at the Launch Labs at the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship, a program of the Argyros School of Business and Economics. The program begins on July 1 and runs 5 days per week from 7:30am to 6:00pm with field trips every Friday.

The girls in the program will gain exposure to a university setting and gain presentation experience with the Business Showcase that concludes the program. Investors from Casco Constractors, BJ’s Restaurants, Inc., Kate Phelan, US Bank Private Wealth Management, Coca-Cola, Women Investing in Security Education (WISE), Rutan & Tucker, LLP., and any more will be in attendance to hear about the girls’ business plans and products.
