Last weekend, Orange residents and visitors lined the streets for the first Orange May Parade since the pandemic. Hosted by the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the parade featured a procession of vintage cars, bands, dancers, animals and so much more.

Various departments at Chapman University participated in the parade, including Community Relations, Chapman Alumni Association, Chapman Cheer and Chapman Interfraternity Council. However, the stars of the show were the Fowler School of Engineering robot dogs, who captivated the likes of children, adults and even other dogs.

On behalf of the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the Chapman Alumni Association won third place in their division, and Fowler’s robot dogs took home first place.

Ami Tsukagoshi ’23, the digital marketing assistant at Chapman’s Office of Community Relations, marched in the parade along with the rest of Chapman’s representatives. She said, “As a student, it was heartwarming to see the whole community come together and collaborate to create an event for the residents and visitors of Orange to enjoy. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to participate!”
