Three Local Organizations Being Honored By Chapman University’s PEPP Program
November 19, 2025
The Panther Experiential Project (PEPP) is a unique program at Chapman University, where students assume the role of grant-makers. They research local nonprofit organizations, learn about and understand community needs, and then award real funds to support the chosen organizations, enabling them to continue their meaningful work in the community.
This fall, after months of research, collaboration, and in-depth discussions, students awarded three $2,000 grants to local organizations whose missions reflect compassion, innovation, and meaningful community service.
This year’s recipients included the Action Alliance Foundation, recognized for its unwavering commitment to providing mental health support and substance abuse recovery services to unhoused community members.
The Youth Centers of Orange was awarded for its wide-ranging after-school enrichment programs, academic support, and leadership development initiatives.
Finally, Food Finders was honored for its efforts in combating chronic hunger and distributing food to those with limited access to it.
The award ceremony took place on November 18, 2025, at Chapman University, bringing together students, faculty, and community leaders to celebrate the outstanding work of the three selected nonprofits. This special event not only recognized the recipients of the $2,000 grants but also highlighted the dedication, research, and thoughtful decision-making of the students who participated in the Philanthropy Project throughout the Fall 2025 semester.
Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from the PEPP Administrative Director, Alisa Driscoll, PEPP Faculty Director, Whitney McIntyre Miller, Ph.D., and each nonprofit representative about the impact of their programs. They also saw student presentations detailing their evaluation process and joined in honoring the meaningful contributions these organizations make to the local community. The ceremony was both a celebration of philanthropy in action and an inspiring showcase of its impact.
