Earlier this spring, Chapman University hosted the annual OUSD Visual and Performing Arts Showcase, a celebration of student creativity and collaboration across the community. The event is a partnership between Chapman University, Orange Unified School District, and the Orange Unified Public Schools Foundation, bringing together students, families, and educators.

Held in Chapman’s Memorial Hall, the two-day showcase featured performances from elementary, middle, and high school students. Ensembles included honor bands, orchestras, and dance groups, highlighting both technical skill and artistic expression. For many students, the event provided a rare opportunity to perform on a professional stage beyond what is typically available within their schools. Community members filled the hall both days, underscoring strong local support for arts education.

In addition to performances, student artwork was displayed throughout the venue, showcasing creativity across the district. The visual exhibition complemented the stage performances and highlighted the breadth of talent in Orange Unified schools. The event created a shared space where performing and visual arts came together in a single celebration of student achievement. The display included a range of mediums such as painting, drawing, and photography, reflecting diverse student perspectives and techniques.

Chapman University provided Memorial Hall as an in-kind donation, reinforcing its commitment to supporting arts education in local schools and strengthening community partnerships. Across both days, performances reflected strong preparation, dedication, and enthusiasm, making the Showcase a meaningful celebration of the arts in Orange. It also strengthened ongoing collaboration between schools and Chapman University.
