Theatre Alumna Nominated for New York Innovative Theatre Award
August 30, 2012
Adriana Chavez (’00) is nominated for a
New York Innovative Theatre Award (IT Awards)
for Outstanding Ensemble for her work in
Homunculus: Reloaded,
produced by Homunculus Mask Theater.
“My favorite part of working on this project was collaborating with the other actors and the director, Joe Osheroff. We were all encouraged to give ideas and generate new material together,” said Chavez. “ It was a great ensemble creation process.”
Homunculus Mask Theater producer Michael Raimondi said “the communal spirit that we approach our work with lends itself to great story-telling. Our ability to always be ‘curious about the result’ and explore unexpected paths in order to get there brings a vitality to the work.”
The nominees were announced at a sold-out event on July 23, 2012 that was attended by nearly 500 artists and guests. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on September 24hosted by Harrison Greenbaum.
The IT Awards are given annually to honor individuals and organizations who have achieved artistic excellence in Off-Off-Broadway theatre. The New York IT Awards recognizes the unique and essential role Off-Off-Broadway plays in contributing to American and global culture, and believes that publicly recognizing excellence in Off-Off-Broadway theatre will expand audience awareness and appreciation of the full New York theatre experience.
