World-renowned pianist Sergei Babayan will be the next guest performer in the James L. Doti
President’s Piano Series
at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in Salmon Recital Hall.

Mr. Babayan is winner of the Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition, the Scottish International Piano Competition and others and founder of the Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy at the
Cleveland Institute of Music
.

Mr. Babayan’s performances reveal an emotional intensity and bold energy, equipping him to explore stylistically diverse repertoire. He is known for his innovative programming, often including modern works by composers such as Lutosławski, Ligeti and Arvo Pärt, and extending the boundaries of mainstream repertoire for which he continues to be acclaimed, excelling in Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann as much as the Russian heritage of Rachmaninoff, Scriabin and Prokofiev.

The President’s Piano Series is hosted by the College of Performing Arts and features acclaimed pianists and ensembles from throughout the world in both solo and chamber music recitals. Tickets are $25 and available by calling the ticket office at 714-997-6812, visiting the
