The public is invited to a complimentary pre-show talk for the Thursday, November 12, 2015 opening of
Eurydice
 in Chapman University’s Waltmar Theatre.
Eurydice
is Sarah Ruhl’s modern, feminist reimagining of the classic Greek myth of Orpheus. The story is told through the perspective of Eurydice, the wife of Orpheus, who dies tragically on her wedding day.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the one-hour talk will be moderated by theatre professor and dramaturgy advisor
Dr. Jocelyn L. Buckner
and will feature the show’s director,
Dr. Theresa Robbins-Dudeck
, the student dramaturgs, Katie Dumas (BA Theatre Studies ’17) and Rose Mackenzie (BA Theatre Studies ’17), and student assistant director Tosh Turner (BFA Theatre Performance ’17). The panel will address the major themes of memory, loss, and love that are prevalent in the story, as well as elements of the design and character-building process that have been integral to the production.

“Whether you plan to attend Thursday’s performance or one of the other shows this week, this talk is a great way to deepen your understanding of the story and enhance your overall experience of the show,” says Dr. Buckner.

Buckner serves as advisor to all student dramaturgs during the Theatre Department’s main stage production season. The growing dramaturgy program at Chapman allows students to serve as the resident expert on every facet of a production to help the cast and crew achieve the deepest level of authenticity for the audience.
