CSD Graduate Student Jenna Lloyd: 2025-26 Language First Student Ambassador
April 9, 2025
We are thrilled to announce that our first-year CSD graduate student, Jenna Lloyd, has been selected for the prestigious Language First Student Ambassador Program for 2025-26!
Jenna joined Dr. Zed Sehyr’s lab as a graduate student assistant last fall and has since been deeply involved in research focusing on predictive sentence comprehension in deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. In addition to her research contributions, Jenna has been dedicated leader within Chapman’s academic community, organizing the ASL Study Club for CSD students at Rinker. Her commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering an inclusive environment makes her an outstanding selection for this honor.
The Language First Student Ambassador Program is a highly competitive, one-year commitment that selects only five ambassadors each year. It is open to undergraduate juniors or seniors, as well as first-year graduate students in CSD programs across the United States. The program provides a close mentorship experience with Language First team members and other student ambassadors, ensuring a rich, collaborative learning opportunity.
Language First is dedicated to promoting ASL/English bilingualism and emphasizing the importance of a strong first language foundation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) children. Through this ambassador program, Jenna will play an integral role in furthering this mission and raising awareness about language access and development.
We are incredibly proud of Jenna for earning this well-deserved recognition. Please join us in congratulating Jenna on this remarkable achievement!
