Jessie Ginsburg, M.S., CCC-SLP

When Jessie Ginsburg (Sinnet) ’13 was an undergraduate at the University of Redlands, she had a remarkable experience working with an 8-year-old boy who had a rare genetic disorder causing paralysis of his facial muscles. The boy’s endless motivation and determination to speak were truly extraordinary and inspirational. “To this day, he remains one of the hardest-working children I have ever worked with. I don’t know if I would have chosen this career path if it weren’t for that boy.”

Flash forward to 2019, Jessie is a respected speech-language pathologist (SLP) and founder of the Los Angeles based Pediatric Therapy Playhouse. The multidisciplinary clinic offers speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, feeding therapy, and social skills groups. Specialists are also brought in to host fun classes like dance, music, and yoga which are not easily accessible to those with special needs. “I’m certain that what makes us the most unique is our incredible team of therapists who are collaborative, dedicated, and passionate about helping children grow and succeed.”

Like Jessie, some of the SLP’s at her clinic are graduates of Chapman’s M.S. Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) program. “Chapman alumni have truly been some of the most professional, prepared, and dedicated therapists I’ve ever hired.” Trisha Thapar ’17 started working with Jessie as a graduate student intern. She is now starting her own practice in Long Beach. Hannah Bogash ’18 and Emily Byers ’18 both completed their clinical fellowships with Jessie and are now fully licensed SLPs at her clinic. “I can say without a doubt that the Chapman alumni have significantly strengthened our team and our Playhouse community.”

As a graduate student at Chapman, Jessie worked closely with CSD Clinical Fieldwork Coordinator Angela Mandas in her private rehabilitation clinic. “Everyone who knows Angela knows what an inspirational person she is and I’m so grateful that I was able to learn from her.” No doubt, this experience inspired Jessie to create a meaningful career for herself and others.

“Choosing this profession is one of the greatest decisions I’ve made in my life and I’m confident that others who find the setting that is right for them will feel the same.”
