‘Twilight’ director speaking at Chapman

Here’s your chance to find out how she did it and what it was really like to make a movie about vampires! Catherine Hardwicke — director of the wildly popular “Twilight” movie — based on the best-selling series by Stephenie Meyer
– is one of six women directors who will speak to the public for free about their movies and careers April 17 (Friday) atChapman University in Orange, CA. (Scroll to bottom for reservation info!)
Hardwicke, who also directed “The Nativity Story,” “Lords of Dogtown,” “Thirteen,” will be joined by:
Martha Coolidge – “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge,” “Out to Sea,” “Angie,” “Lost in Yonkers,” “Valley Girl”
Sanaa Hamri — “Something New,” “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” “Acceptance.”
Jocelyn Moorhouse — “A Thousand Acres,” “How to Make an American Quilt,” “Proof,” “Pavane”
Kimberly Peirce – “Stop Loss,” “The L Word,” “Boys Don’t Cry,” “The Good Last Breath”
Penelope Spheeris — “The Little Rascals,” “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “Wayne’s World”
The first session — “Career Paths” — runs from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. The directors will screen clips from their films and talk about what it takes to break into the industry, obstacles they faced.
The second session — “Directing the Vision” — runs from 3 to 4:15 p.m. The discussion will focus on the challenges of directing.
An informal mixer follows at 4:30 p.m.
