Disney Animation Creative Team Presents New Film & Techniques on Campus
October 14, 2013
An exciting event for digital animation students, and film lovers of all stripes!
On Wednesday, October 16th, Digital Arts Professor Bill Kroyer will host a handful of key Disney animators, in an event so exciting, it can’t be contained in just one room!
First, we will screen the newest Disney animated short,
Get a Horse
, in a 3D presentation in our Folino Theater. The screening begins at 7PM, and all are invited to attend.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ never-before-seen short “Get a Horse!” stars the one and only Mickey Mouse and features Walt Disney himself as the voice of the iconic character. This black-and-white, hand-drawn short follows Mickey, his favorite gal pal Minnie Mouse and their friends Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow as they delight in a musical wagon ride — until Peg-Leg Pete shows up and tries to run them off the road.
Following the presentation, the group will shift over to a more intimate lecture room, in Argyros 208, where our friends at Disney will rendezvous with the digital arts students. Our guests include:
- Lauren MacMullan – Director, Animator, Production Designer (Wreck-It Ralph, The Simpsons, The Last Airbender Animated Series)
- Eric Goldberg – Animator (Aladdin, Princess and the Frog, Fantasia 2000)
- Adam Green – Animator (Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Prep & Landing)
Each of these hard-working industry veterans has worked on a plethora of new and old animated classics, and they’re sure to have a wealth of information for both the animation lover and the Disney fanatic (and everyone in-between). Beyond Disney war stories and advice for students, the team will give a hands-on drawing demonstration, merging the techniques of hand-drawn stills which inspired the classic images in
Get a Horse!,
and the newer technologies which allow us to render the films in three dimensions today.
All are welcome, so spread the word — and bring your drawing pads!
