Here is an update on how our some of our students are doing on the festival circuit world:

  • Jackson Smith’s (BFA/FP ‘17) THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER was accepted to the Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival (SICFF) and he will be traveling to the United Arab Emirates for the festival in October.
  • SOME NERVE (Community Voices) is an Official Selection at the DocUtah Film Festival.
  • Dora Wu (MFA/DOC ’18), Jen Xu (MFA/DOC ’18), and Perry Wasserman’s (BFA/NWD ’20) SEVA: THE SELFLESS MISSION is an Official Selection at the (In)Justice for All Film Festival.
  • Dora Wu’s (MFA/DOC ‘ 18) CARE&CURE was a winner at the Alternative Film Festival (AltFF).
  • FOSTER CREATIVITY (Community Voices) is an Official Selection at the Kids International San Diego Film Festival.
  • GROUP (Community Voices) is an Official Selection at the New Orleans Film Festival.
  • David Bashford’s (MFA/FP ‘18) VOXGIRL is an Official Selection at the Skyline Indie Film Fest as well as the San Jose International Short Film Festival.
  • The Cinekid Screening Club offers TV buyers, sales agents, programmers, and distributors the opportunity to screen productions in private screening booths for programming or acquisition purposes and we had several of our films get accepted:
    • PICKLE
    • CURIOUS KALEO
    • AKI
    • DEMPSEY THE DIABETIC SUPERHERO
    • PET PEEVED
  • Aharonit Elior’s (BFA/DA ‘17) SPARK has been invited to participate in the Olhar de Cinema – IFF’s traveling exhibition which passes through approximately 30 cities in the interior of the state of Parana (Brazil). The exhibitions take place in schools, auditoriums, amphitheaters, and other places of easy access to the population since some of these cities do not have cinemas. The expected audience for this itinerary is three thousand people.
  • Hannah Warling’s (‘18) DIRT is an Official Selection for ITVFEST.
  • We have two Student Academy Award Finalist:
    • TRANSIENT PASSENGERS (EXPERIMENT NUMBER NÜN) – Alternative Category. Written and Directed by Natalie Hermida (BFA/FP ’18).
    • ESTA ES TU CUBA – Narrative Category. Directed by Brian Robau (MFA/FP ’18). Produced by John Sayage (MFA/FTJ ’18).
