Students Visit Emmy Rehearsals to See How It’s Done
September 19, 2016
This past Saturday, Professor Steven Hirsen’s Advanced Multi-Camera TV Production class accompanied him to the Emmy’s rehearsal, the day before Sunday’s broadcast hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
As they sat in the audience, they watched Emmy presenters including Henry Winkler, Tracee Ellis Ross, Terrence Howard and Allison Janney rehearse their segments.
They also got to sit directly behind Director Glenn Weiss, watching him call shots directly from the floor. They later met with Weiss and Executive Producer Don Mischer, and Don’s producing partner, Executive Producer Charlie Haykel.
The students had their pictures taken on stage, and got to tour backstage, including getting into the TV trucks (control room) to observe the production; one of which is the main control room while the other does all the special effects, graphics, and so on.
