“First Cut” Visits New York City!
April 5, 2012
Just returned from an exciting few days in New York City for our annual First Cut screening at the Directors Guild of America Theater in Manhattan! As we did for our screening in the fall in Los Angeles, we screened our four top thesis films from last year as well as a clips reel highlighting work in cinematography and visual effects. It was so great to share our talented student work with everyone there and we even had 3 of the student filmmakers in attendance!
We had a great time getting the chance to catch up with our NYC alumni that came out for the event! Some of our alumni in attendance were John Duber ’00 who works as the Director of the Piers Morgan show in CNN, Lauren Ruggeri ’06 who works as a web designer, Niko Turko ’09 who is the U.S. Events and Marketing Coordinator for Lanvin, and Slater Dixon ’05 who is an editor and is starting his own distribution company. We have a large number of our alumni that now work in New York. It was very exciting to hear about everything they are up to.
We also were able to speak with many of our prospective and admitted students from the East Coast. It was so wonderful that people were able to make the trip from neighboring states, like Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We really enjoyed getting to talk to them about our programs and have them all be part of the event.
Thank you to everyone who came out this year. We are looking forward to next year already!
