Chapman University’s Attallah College, with support from The Miner Anderson Family Foundation, hosted its third annual Peace Leadership in Schools Summit this fall 2025 semester. Organized by Associate Professors Anna Abdou and Whitney McIntyre Miller and Instructional Associate Professor Trisha Sugita, the summit brought together school leaders from Southern California districts and educational institutions to share strategies for promoting peace and wellness within their school communities.

This year’s event centered on the principles and practices of integral peace leadership, emphasizing how these approaches can be applied in educational settings. Participants engaged in guided training and discussions led by the organizing team, exploring ways to design and implement peace leadership initiatives tailored to their specific school contexts.

School and district leaders and wellness professionals also heard presentations from past grantees and collaborated in small groups to develop actionable project ideas. Participants were invited to apply for up to $2,000 in funding to bring their peace leadership projects to life.

The summit convened 25 participants representing El Sol Academy, Garden Grove Unified School District, Los Angeles County Office of Education, Whittier School District, Nativity Prep Academy, Orange Unified School District’s McPherson Elementary, Santa Ana Unified School District’s MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School and Santa Ana High School, and Palm Springs Unified School District.

The Peace Leadership in Schools Summit, supported by The Miner Anderson Family Foundation, reflects Attallah College’s ongoing commitment to cultivating positive change and leadership in education.
