The Riverside County Superior Court recently announced a new monthly program aimed to “reduce the court’s civic case backlog and increase access to justice for civil litigants everywhere.” The program, called “PJ Settlement Day”, acts as a “last chance” day-of-trial mediation program in which Presiding Judge Sherrill Ellsworth will help settle civil cases before they come to trial. Students from the Chapman University School of Law Mediation Clinic, directed by Professor Dowling, will supplement the facilitation of the program when it begins on January 27, 2011.
