greenEach year, Chapman’s Fowler School of Law recognizes the contributions of one outstanding alumni. The criteria for the Alumni of the Year includes: distinguished service to the profession of law, contributions to the mission of the law school and volunteer work in the community. This year we are proud to announce that Richard Green (’98) is the recipient of the Alumni of the Year Award.

Richard Green serves on the Chapman University Fowler School of Law Alumni Advisory Board and is very active on the board. “Richard is an outstanding immigration law attorney and he has taught many MCLE classes here at the law school,” said Ian Jones, Assistant Director of Student and Alumni Services.

Richard is a Huntington Beach native who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. After working as a clerk in several large law firms in Los Angeles, he joined the inaugural class at Chapman University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of California, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First and Ninth Circuit.

“As a member of the inaugural class, I have a unique and somewhat paternal perspective on the law school. I was there when the doors opened …” said Richard. When he began at Chapman, the school was in its infancy. “I’m active on campus in order to see the school continue to advance,” he added.

The school’s outreach and mentorship programs have grown thanks to members of our alumni association. And as one of the most active members of our alumni, we feel especially grateful to Richard. “I feel honored and humbled to be honored with the Alumnus of the Year award,” said Richard.

The award luncheon to celebrate the Alumni of the Year will take place on Friday, November 22 at 11:30 a.m. Seats are limited, so please register if you would like to attend.
