At an August 24 Welcome Reception for new law school Dean Paul Paton, Chapman President Daniele C. Struppa announced an unprecedented $15 million gift to the Fowler School of Law from Chapman Board of Trustees Chair Parker S. Kennedy–one of the largest gifts in Chapman history. The bulk of this transformative gift will be dedicated to student scholarships, while $1 million will elevate the Parker S. Kennedy Professor of Law to the Parker S. Kennedy Endowed Chair in Law.

To cap a red-letter day in the school’s history, two new busts of giants in U.S. legal history were unveiled–Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Thurgood Marshall–both will be added to the Chapman University Collection of Historical Figures. The bust of Justice O’Connor was sponsored by Trustee Phil Case. The bust of Justice Marshall was sponsored by former Dean and Professor (now Executive VP) Matt Parlow and Professor Janine Kim. Below is a picture gallery of the evening’s proceedings. This event was also featured on Chapman University’s news site as well as in the Orange County Business Journal.
