Fowler School of Law is delighted to announce that, following a rigorous national search, Tina Ching, JD/MLIS, has been appointed to the faculty as professor and Director of the Hugh & Hazel Darling Law Library, where she has the role of Darling Law Librarian Chair.

Ching comes to Chapman University Fowler School of Law from Stanford Law School, where she served as Associate Director for Technical Services at the Robert Crown Law Library from 2022. Prior to her appointment at Stanford, she served as Senior Librarian at the University of Oregon Law School, where she was a member of the research and instructional team for the law library and worked as law library liaison to faculty, law journals and members of the law school administration. Her previous roles include eight years as a Reference and Electronic Services Librarian at the Seattle University School of Law, as well as Arizona State University Law Library.

She has taught Advanced Legal Research, Online Advanced Legal Research and Technology Competence for the Practice of Law, as well as Legal Research Methods, among other courses. A frequent presenter at American Association of Law Librarian Annual Meetings, she has held numerous AALL national committee appointments and authored notes and various publications on technical and policy matters for law libraries.

Tina Ching holds a B.A. from Willamette University, a JD from the University of Oregon, and an MLIS from the University of Washington. In addition to twenty years of service as a law librarian, Ching served as Director of Marketing and Communications at the Seattle University School of Law, reporting to the Dean and directly responsible for marketing, advertising, media relations, social media and web development.

Ching brings a reputation as an effective and creative administrator, dedicated to supporting students, faculty and her staff. She is extremely well prepared to help us frame, shape and implement the direction needed to take the library forward as a resource in a time of challenge and change for legal education and the legal profession.
