Professor John Hall was quoted in a front page New York Times article about the sentencing of a former prison warden of the Khmer Rouge who was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Professor Hall commented on the difficulties facing the United Nations backed tribunal in Cambodia. “The court has struggled to deal with allegations of kickbacks involving national staff, heavy-handed political interference from the Cambodian government, bureaucratic inefficiency and incompetence, and disturbing levels of conflict between international and national staff,” said Professor Hall.
