Students interested in applying for the 2016 Marjorie W. Day Cal-ABOTA Scholarship have until February 26 at 5 p.m. to submit their applications to the Graduate Financial Aid Office. The $5,000 scholarship is offered exclusively to Fowler School of Law students who have completed one year of law school.

ABOTA is a national invitation-only organization of civil trial attorneys representing both plaintiffs and defendants who are dedicated to promoting civility and professionalism in the practice of law. ABOTA is one of the most prestigious and recognized organizations for litigators.

Scholarship recipients will not only receive $5,000, but also strengthen their future credentials via recognition by this prestigious and important organization.

Marjorie Day was a past president of Cal-ABOTA, the California affiliate of the national organization. She was one of Orange County’s first female lawyers and successfully obtained many large settlements and noteworthy verdicts.

In addition to filling out the scholarship application, students must submit a typed essay on a selected topic, a personal statement, a resume and a description of his or her courtroom or dispute resolution experience.
