I would like to extend warm wishes to you from all of us in the Leatherby Libraries. We remain committed to our mission of providing personalized services and relevant resources in support of the curricular, creative, and scholarly needs of the Chapman University community to ensure the development of the information-literate global citizen.

Our vision is to be a preeminent portal to the world’s knowledge, an intellectual and cultural center on campus as well as a distinguished resource for teaching, learning, and scholarship at Chapman University.

Whether for students entering the university for their first year or faculty members looking for opportunities to advance their research agenda and pedagogical best practices, the Leatherby Libraries supports their journey and academic success by providing resources, services, state-of-the-art technology, relevant programming, and welcoming spaces.

I invite you to follow the libraries’ activities through our newsletter, social media, and blog and see for yourself the breadth and depth of library activities and support we provide to the community at large, along with our continued efforts to Reimagine the Leatherby Libraries.

This year, we are proud to launch our first-ever Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) plan in conjunction with the creation of our Leatherby Libraries’ DEI website. Additionally, we are aligning the library with the university’s mission to support research and have created a Library Research & Data Services (LRDS) team to address the research needs and expectations of our student and faculty researchers. This innovative team supports and guides the Chapman University research community throughout the research cycle. Their services include workshops, individual research consultations, assistance in the use of research and data mining tools, data management plans, data analysis, data visualization, and text and data mining.

I look forward to sharing with you the continued success of the libraries and updating you with our plans for a library that will continue to support current Chapman University students and adapt to the needs of future students, faculty, researchers, and the community.

Sincerely,

Kevin Ross, Ph.D., MLS
