Librarian Interviews: Amy Telarico Meet Our New Reference Librarian!
March 18, 2026
The Leatherby Libraries’ Meet the Librarian interview series spotlights our wonderful librarians and the incredible work they do every day. This series offers a closer look at the people and services that support our campus. Meet Amy Telarico, our newest reference librarian!
1. What is your name and title?
My name is Amy Telarico, and I am the current Reference Librarian. I am also the Liaison Librarian for both Theatre and Dance.
2. In what department of the Leatherby Libraries do you work?
I primarily work at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the Leatherby Libraries. I am also part of the Instructional Services Committee, so you may also find me in the library instructional room 305.
3. How long have you been at Chapman University?
I started as a Circulation Assistant in June of 2021, as the campus was returning from the COVID shutdown.
4. What is your job in a nutshell?
Essentially, I am here to help connect the Chapman community to the information and resources they need to succeed. This ranges from locating materials, creating guides, assisting research efforts, and furthering information literacy. As the Liaison Librarian for Theatre and Dance, I can provide specific research strategies and instruction support to the Theatre and Dance departments.
5. Have you held any jobs at other universities or libraries?
As an undergraduate, I worked at the University of California San Diego’s Geisel Library. Then, while pursuing my master’s, I interned at the Pacific Northwest University Library and the American Film Institute Catalog.
6. What are your passions/interests outside of work?
I love to read, which in turn means I love to go to bookstores and often fail to walk away empty-handed. I am currently attempting to learn how to crochet and keep plants alive. I inherited a love for musicals from my mother, so I periodically go to Segerstrom; we saw Shucked for the first time this year and thoroughly enjoyed it!
7. Where did you get your degree?
I earned my BA from UC San Diego and my MLIS from San Jose State University.
8. Where is your hometown?
I grew up on the border of Yorba Linda and Placentia, CA, so I’ve been local for the majority of my life.
9. What is the last book you read or the last book you loved?
I just finished reading Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash. It was one of those books that sounds ridiculous but ends up being quite insightful. If you enjoy wordplay and a humorous or unique author’s voice, I recommend giving it a chance.
10. Any fun facts about yourself?
I find painting my nails therapeutic, so I repaint them once a week. This has led me to collect a somewhat ridiculous amount of nail polish.I’m always looking for recommendations or tips!
