“We learned about peaceful protests, not about being violent…” explains Fatima and Ana about the history course they took at Spurgeon Intermediate School, and what inspired them to create their artwork.

In the Hallway of Art in the Leatherby Libraries, visitors can view ten art pieces created by students from Spurgeon Intermediate School with titles such as No Hate, We Are All Equal Together, and Keep Our Families Together.

This exhibit was produced in conjunction with the Ethnic Studies Summit. The summit was open to the Chapman and local community to dialogue on the Ethnic Studies Movement in California. Participants included local district leaders, community organizers, scholar-activists, and high school students.

This exhibit will close on May 22, 2017.
